Cadans M and Amigo provide more delight for Dyson at Bishop Burton

North East Lincolnshire dressage rider Lara Dyson says the best is yet to come from British Dressage Northern Winter Regional Championships star Cyden Cadans M.

Dyson again celebrated success at the event held at Bishop Burton College on her stallion Cyden Cadans M, ruling the Advanced Medium Restricted class with a score of 67.81 per cent.

The duo were also second in the Medium Open Music Freestyle with 71.61 per cent, qualifying them for two classes at the Winter National Championship at Hartpury Arena from April 9-13.

Better still, with Cyden Cadans M just seven years old, Dyson believes her dressage star is still open to improvement.

Delighted Dyson said: “I am over the moon to have won the Advanced Medium Restricted as he is still only seven and relatively new to this level. I was really pleased with how he coped with the atmosphere at Bishop Burton and it provided us with a proper warm up for Hartpury.

“For the first time in years I was genuinely quite nervous and had to use many of my coaching techniques to keep my nerves under control and not let them transfer through to the horses.

“I can only think it was down to winning all four classes last year on Cadans that I felt the pressure more than any other competitions I have done on him.”

Cyden Cadans M’s stable mate, pony stallion Cyden Oostings Amigo, came second in the Preliminary class in the hands of 13-year-old Liberty Tyler in her first regionals.

Scoring 71.61 per cent, they missed first place by only 0.14, but also qualify for the Nationals.

Dyson beamed: “Liberty rode a fantastically accurate and flashy test on Amigo. He is a pony well beyond his years, and at not even five years old.

“Amigo hadn’t had the best of run-ups to the nationals as I was away training so he had five days out in the field as opposed to most ponies that would have been schooling.

“This goes to demonstrate his wonderful nature and temperament.”

Dyson’s only disappointment came in the Medium Open when Cyden Bodyguard Moorland had a rare spook which badly affected her marks, pushing her down to fifth.

Dyson added: “I was a little disappointed in the Medium Open, but I can’t be annoyed with him as he is such a genuine and lovely boy.

“The rest of the test was by far the best he has ever done.”
