Cardiff City v Barnsley: Robins on course for milestone points haul

Robins needs a draw against Cardiff City tomorrow to clock up 100 points as the club’s manager since taking over 77 league games ago.

The Tykes fnished 18th in the Championship last season and currently sit 15th in the table with 10 games to play.

Buoyed by a first victory in seven games, the Tykes visit the Welsh capital tomorrow looking for a repeat of last season’s 2-0 victory.

The Bluebirds are fourth but have suffered back-to-back defeats against Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace.

“We had two very good wins against Cardiff last season but this is a different season and we know we are going to be up against it,” said Robins.

“Cardiff are always up there. They have got everything in place to do well.

“They are one of the six favourites to get promoted but if we can stay in the game with them we can get the right result.

“I have got a lot of respect for Dave Jones and what he has done at the club. It was not long ago that they were close to going into administration but now they have got new owners, a new stadium, and they are still right up there at the top of the league.

“It was good to get a win against Scunthorpe (in midweek),” he added. “We had gone six games without a win so it was important we ended that run. It’s done everyone the world of good around the club.”

Robins is hoping that defender Bobby Hassell and midfielder Hugo Colace will be back in contention.

“We’ll wait until the last minute to check on both of them,” he said. “It would be good to get a couple more bodies back because the games are coming thick and fast.”

Former Barnsley striker Michael Chopra could make his 200th league start and will be looking to add to his tally of 11 goals for Cardiff so far this season.

Chopra scored 17 goals during a one-season stay at Oakwell on loan from Newcastle United in 2004-05.

The Tykes, meanwhile, have announced that season ticket prices will go up next season at Oakwell by £15 to £20 depending on the area of the ground. Existing season-ticket holders will pay £15 less than new applicants.
