Carson lets riders into the secrets of judging

FIND out how to improve your dressage score with a little help from judge and trainer, Sue Carson.

She will be explaining just what the judge is looking for and how the marks are awarded in a dressage test during an evening demonstration at Catterick Garrison Saddle Club on April 28.

Sue, who is a List 2a judge, will work with riders and their horses or ponies from preliminary to elementary level, explaining what the judge is watching for in the different movements from a number of tests.

She will look at some of the things that can often go wrong and at how riders can improve their scores.

The evening should be of particular interest to riders thinking of moving up to affiliated competition and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

Sue is looking for guinea pig riders and their horses to take part in the demonstration.

If you would like to volunteer, go to www.suecarsonsaddles.co.uk and complete the on-line form.

The winners of each section of the current Jump Training and Jumping and Style (JAS) finals, organised by British Eventing, will be able to take part in a training clinic run by the New Zealand event rider, Blythe Tait.

Tait, 50, is a former gold medallist at both Olympic and World Championship level.

He will run the clinic for the winners at his base near Cheltenham.
