Castleford Tigers v Wakefield Trinity: Orr calls for Tigers' inconsistency to stop

CASTLEFORD TIGERS' assistant coach Danny Orr has challenged his side to use tonight's derby against Wakefield Trinity to start ridding themselves of 'inconsistency.'

Last week’s loss at his former club Wigan Warriors was only a third defeat of the season but the ex-Great Britain half-back believes there is so much more to come from the League Leaders’ Shield holders.

Orr, 39, admitted: “We are inconsistent. One week we were great and the next we were very poor. We know we are a lot better than we showed against Wigan and we will be looking to put that right on Friday.

“But it’ll be a tough game. I like them, I like what Wakey are doing this year; they are a big, physical team but they like to throw the ball around and play, which I am a big believer in.”

Orr has earmarked Australian half-back Jacob Miller as a key man for Trinity, who are also looking to respond after an embarrassing 38-4 loss at Salford Red Devils.

“I think you should pass the ball, look for space and create space and Wakefield do that really well,” he added.

“They’re definitely going to test us. They’ve got some good players.

“Miller is a key player for them, I like the look of him and what he’s doing this year.

“They are definitely going to be a challenge. They will be a bit down on themselves; the St Helens win was great for them, but they backed that up with their worst performance of the season against Salford.

“They’ll be wanting to put a few of their wrongs right and put in a good performance against us so it’s all set up to be a good game.”

Castleford won 11-6 at Wakefield over Easter in atrocious conditions at Belle Vue.

Orr recalled: “It was a great win for us, one of those you have to grind out. Wakey probably didn’t play the way they want to play the game. They had to change and adapt, as did we.

“Hopefully, come the weekend, conditions will be a bit better.

“But it is what it is, you just play and you adapt. If it’s chucking it down again and we’ve got puddles all over the field that’s what it is.”

Castleford could give a debut to Academy full-back CalumTurner on the wing.
