Centres on song for Bridlington

Yorkshire One: Leaders Bridlington moved a further point clear of Driffield with a bonus when they ran in seven tries in a 51-3 home victory over struggling Castleford.

Centre Ryan Girking scored the only try of a tight first half, with Jamie Muru adding a penalty, which full-back Ian Mattison matched for Castleford.

As Bridlington took control in the second half, Girking added a second try and there were others from fellow centre Gareth Roberts (two), full-back Sizwe Zondo and wingers Regan Stirk and Ryan Kerr.

Driffield scored only two tries to their hosts’ three but salvaged a 20-15 win oat York.

York had gone ahead in the first five minutes with a catch and drive try from a line-out and it was stalemate for the rest of the first half before Driffield took control to lead 20-5.

Pocklington moved up to third with a 32-10 home win over Dinnington, a four-try bonus putting them ahead of Keighley on league points and above Heath on scoring difference.

Pocklington established their dominance in the first half with tries by centre Will Greenwood and flanker Jack Holbrough, the former converted by Nick Bennett.

While Pocklington were down to 13 men with two yellow cards for ruck offences, full-back Bennett added 10 points with a converted try and penalty.

Bennett converted a try by fly-half Henry Mitchell early in the second half to put the home side 29-0 ahead before Dinnington replied with a try by second-row Matt Acres.

Bennett then added a final penalty for Pocklington before winger Jimmy Marsden touched down for Dinnington.

Heath lost their third place when they lost 29-22 at Pontefract, and Keighley scraped a penalty goal win, 13-10, at Scarborough.
