Children’s hospice to benefit from centuries tally

World Championship title sponsor Betfred will donate £200 to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice for every century break made during the 17 days of this year’s tournament.

And if the century tally reaches 70, the donation will be rounded up to £25,000.

The Betfred World Championship runs from today to May 4 at the Crucible Theatre. Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston, Sheffield, has been World Snooker’s official charity since 2012.

Rachael Dawes, hospice corporate fundraiser, said: “We are incredibly proud and grateful to have such support from Betfred and World Snooker. This creative and fun century break initiative will help to raise much needed funds towards the £3m a year we need to keep our doors open and our specialist services running.

“At Bluebell Wood, we help to create treasured memories for our children and families going through very tough times.

“Every penny makes a real difference.”
