Collins puts the boot in to sink Selby

Selby scored the only try of the match at Sheffield, but six penalties helped the home side defend their unbeaten record.

Stand-off Donal Collins kicked two and a drop goal as Sheffield opened a 9-3 lead at half-time, opposite number Sam Morgan kicking Selby's penalty.

After the break, Collins added four more penalties to help Sheffield to victory, despite some great defending by Selby, whose try came from centre Alex Webster.

Bridlington got off to a good start with two converted tries and held on for victory over Ribblesdale at Dukes Park.

The home side went ahead with tries by scrum-half Ben Sanderson and No 8 Mark Oliver, both converted by Steve Mellonby, before Ribblesdale pulled back the first of two tries from debut winger Henri Lawson, converted by Steve Moon.

Mellonby's penalty put Bridlington 17-7 ahead at the turnround, and the only score of the second half was another try by Lawson.

Malton and Norton, after conceding an early penalty, moved to within one point of leaders Sheffield with a four-try victory, 35-17, at Castleford.

Full-back Teei Piawi scored one of Malton's four tries as well as converting three and landing three penalties.

Although the home side had the better of the possession, Knottingley made more of their opportunities to score a 17-14 win at Dinnington, who have lost all four matches and were again left to salvage a losing bonus point.

Full-back Bradley Rowlinson and prop Steve Berry scored the visitors' tries, with Paul Rockett converting both and adding a penalty.

Dinnington had been restricted to three penalties by Danny Wilkinson until prop Sam Kirk touched down for their only try with five minutes to go.
