Willstrop won gold earlier in the week in the men’s singles event after failing at the final hurdle in that event in 2010 and 2014.
There was dissapointment overnight for Jenny Duncalf as she was knocked out of the women’s doubles at the quarter-final stage with her partner Alison Walters at the hands of New Zealand pair Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy, losing 2-0.
Leeds’ Alex Bell fell two seconds short of a medal in the final of the women’s 800m. She finished fifth as Caster Semenya, of South Africa, took gold.
Sheffield-based Alicia Barrett finished her 100m hurdles journey by finishing eigth in the final.
