Coventry V Leeds United: Road trips suit United better

AS 6,200 Leeds United fans prepare to follow their side to the Midlands today, Simon Grayson admits being on the road often suits his side. The Elland Road club are in the unusual position this season of having won more points away from home than they have in LS11.

Where seven games on home soil have yielded three victories and four defeats, United have pocketed 11 points on their travels, courtesy of wins at Watford, Middlesbrough and Scunthorpe United plus draws with Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest.

Grayson said: "Our away form has been very good recently. Players maybe play with more freedom away from home, or maybe teams sit back at Elland Road and catch us on the break.

"Everyone would love to see good home form but if we are picking up wins, whether they are at home or away, I will settle for that."

United, who could face former players Gary McSheffrey and Michael Doyle today, will be backed by their second highest travelling army of the season today, behind the 6,700 who made the September trip to Barnsley.

It means Coventry, whose most recent home game against Barnsley attracted less than 15,000 fans, are expecting their biggest crowd since the 27,992 that watched promotion-chasing Wolverhampton Wanderers draw 1-1 at the Ricoh Arena on the penultimate weekend of the 2007-08 season.
