All-rounder Emery in top form for Hallam

greg norton hit an unbeaten 69 to steer Treeton to victory in the top match of the day at Wickersley.

The hosts set a 256-9 target after opener Haider Jahangir’s 62 was followed by 63 from Jordan Lowe.

Openers Gareth Davis (54) and Steve Foster (44) set Treeton well on their way, before Norton steered them to 257-6 and victory.

Whitley Hall made 287-6 at Tickhill, Neil Longhurst making 104 and Chris Siddall 59, with James Stuart taking 3-92.

Tickhill were dismissed for 162 (Ashley Fiddler 44) by Jim Tasker (6-44) and Tom Fletcher (3-29).

Solid batting by Nick Dymock (62), Humphrey Emery (58) and Rob Marcroft (57), steered Hallam to 245-8 at Aston Hall, who were sent back for 131, with three cheap wickets each for Emery and Neil Mountjoy.

Wath came a cropper at Coal Aston, sent packing for 164 after the hosts had thrown down a 237-9 challenge, Liam Johnson cracking 80 and Daniel Hemiingway 63. Steve Johnson claimed 4-78 for Wath, for whom Rob Barlow made 51.

Darfield entertained Norton Oakes and made 234-8, Liam Marshall striking 71, Ahmad Yar 59 and Pete Hadfield 43. Paul Revill and Alex Hibbert took three wickets each for Oakes, who fell short at 220, Chris Baker hitting 64 as James Ward took 4-17, and Ali Khan 4-81.

Champions Elsecar enjoyed a nine-wicket triumph over Whiston, who were whipped out for 107 despite Andy Tomlinson’s 41. Luke Townsend claimed 4-19 before following with 40 not out. Amitpaul Kundra also carried his bat for 54.

Conisbrough made 282-7 in Division One, thanks to a fine century from Gary Strephan and 68 from Jon Redfern. Sheffield Collegiate fell for 156 in reply.
