The damage was done by Steve Sargeant (4-26) and Dominic Rhodes, whose 5-39 included a hat-trick against the last three batsmen, and slow left-armer John Parks's 14 overs cost a mere 14 runs.

Rhodes then hit 11 fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 68. In conjunction with Graham Williamson (19no), Rhodes had seen his side move to 94-0 before a deluge threatened to rob Fenner of victory. However, after a mopping up exercise, the game was able to continue after a 77- minute stoppage and the home side were able to get the remaining five runs to clinch a 10 wicket victory in 16.5 overs.

Second-placed Dunnington and third-placed Easingwold had their game abandoned after just two overs of the second innings.

Easingwold had put themselves into a strong position after half- centuries from cousins Steve Piercy (66) and Martin Piercy (51). With Jonathon Marwood making 27 and Paul Skilbeck 29, Easingwold took tea at 220-9, Dave Johnson claiming 4-83.

A week after hitting a double century, Folkton & Flixton's Neil Elvidge made 100 at Hornsea. Elvidge took his seasonal aggregate to 1,023 runs but failed to gain his side victory as Hornsea went on to win by four wickets after chasing 178.

Hornsea's bowling star was Joe Butterworth, 16, who included a hat-trick in his 4-28. The youngster was well supported by Ryan Kirk with 3-45. The home side's victory march was then spearheaded by Richard Medforth with 63 and Tom Fox, who made 37.

Ripon captain Paul Nel hit his first league century as he led from the front to gain his side's first win of the season at the expense of fellow strugglers Londesbrough Park.

Batting first, Park reached 191-5 largely due to the efforts of Calum Robertson, who made 83. Charlie Rook supported with 27 and then claimed 3-51 but Nel had a useful ally in Andy Banks, who made 40 as Ripon won by six wickets.
