Another washout as Headingley ODI abandoned

YORKSHIRE have suffered a hat-trick of one-day international washouts in the space of five years after rain forced the abandonment of today’s game between England and Australia at Headingley.

Play was officially called off at 1.30pm by umpires Aleem Dar and Richard Illingworth after torrential rain in the area this morning.

It follows the washouts in 2009 and 2012 when England were due to meet West Indies on both occasions.
