ADIL RASHID looks to be struggling to claim a place in England’s Ashes squad.

The Yorkshire leg-spinner/batsman has been left out of the 14-man England squad for a pre-Ashes training camp in Spain,

Uncapped Derbyshire left-arm bowler Mark Footitt has been included.

Rashid is included along with new faces Reece Topley and James Vince in England’s squad for next week’s one-off NatWest International Twenty20 against New Zealand at Old Trafford.

There is no Twenty20 place for either of Somerset’s Overton twins, Craig and Jamie, brought into England’s ODI squad this week after injuries to seamers Chris Jordan and Liam Plunkett.

Middle-order batsman James Taylor, included in the ODI squad but yet to play in the series, is also absent from the Twenty20 list.

ends Women’s cricket will break new ground in this country next year when a new six-team Twenty20 Super League will begin.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced a £3million investment in the league over the next four years, with prize money available for the first time in the domestic structure.

It will run initially alongside the Royal London Women’s One-Day County Cup and NatWest Women’s County Twenty20 competitions.

From the 2017 season, the Super League will encompass both limited-overs formats - with the intention of creating greater competition for places among more experienced players at international level.
