Barkisland put in a spin by Golwalker

LEG-SPINNER Yogesh Golwalker was almost unplayable as Hall Bower gained a four-wicket win over promoted Barkisland.

Golwalker took 8-32 in 14.2 wily overs to dismiss the visitors for 96, Lorenzo Ingram accounting for 73 of the runs.

Wayne Swift then hit a half-century and Hall Bower reached their target in 21 overs.

Kiwi Cameron Fletcher led the way for Golcar, who inflicted a first defeat of the season on Kirkburton at Riley Lane.

Fletcher, who played in the Under-19 World Cup last season and has turned out for Northern Knights’ first team, hit an unbeaten 87 and, together with Daniel Woodhead, saw Golcar to a six-wicket victory with nine balls to spare.

Jon Cheer struck 78 in vain for Kirkburton in a match reduced by the weather to 37 overs a side.

Honley compounded Hoylandswaine’s poor start to the defence of their title by sentencing their hosts to a fourth successive Premiership defeat.

Ritchie Howarth took five wickets as Hoylandswaine were bowled out for 219, 10 runs short of their objective.

It was Honley’s first league win of the campaign.

Captain Tom Brook took seven wickets and there were half-centuries from Joe Carter and Louis Sykes as Scholes squeezed to victory by four runs against fancied Elland, who needed nine to win off the last over.

Isaac Pollitt took five wickets for the losers in the 32 overs-a-side contest.

Shepley continue to suggest they can finish much higher than the ninth place they filled last season.

They remain unbeaten in league and cup after five matches and they bowled out visitors Skelmanthorpe for 113 in the last scheduled over of a 30-overs-a-side affair, having posted 169-6. Brothers Danny and Craig Glover removed eight Skelmanthorpe batsmen between them.

Half-centuries from Irfan Zahoor and Faisal Butt helped Delph & Dobcross to a six-wicket win at Holmfirth, Matt Norvall and Warren Jones taking four home wickets each.

Elsecar attack strikes back to deny Whiston

With the weather vastly different to the previous week, when the league recorded 13 century-makers, no club in the Premier Division managed to reach the 200 mark.

Elsecar, despite only making 116, took full points against Whiston at Armroyd Lane, though troubled by the attack of Steve Taylor (4-10), and Ryan Hercules (3-27).

Any thoughts Whiston may have had of victory vanished as they were dismissed for 92 by Shahzad Rana (4-41), Rob Jones (3-30) and Iftikar Afzal (3-18).

Upper Haugh did well to reach 184-9 at Whitley Hall, Steve Reynolds unbeaten on 67 and teenager Jordan Foster hitting 52.

Tom Fletcher claimed 5-51 for the Ecclesfield hosts, who went on to win at 185-7, opener Chris Siddall setting the pace with a half-century, followed by knocks of 43 from Oliver Whittaker and 41 from South African Jaco Castle. The best bowling figures for Haugh came from Rob Oxberry with 5-52.

Wath came in at a modest 144 at home to Houghton Main, Martyn Bray striking 57 and Andy Wood 44 as Alec Elliott returned 6-38. The score proved ample, for the visitors were sent packing for just 67 with Rob Barlow snapping up 4-4.

Aston Hall followed Coal Aston’s 161-8 with a winning 163-6, the main men for the victors being Scott Hibbett with 47 and Uzman Azeem, who took 3-32.

Another low-scoring match saw Wickersley dismiss Hallam for 142, Joe Cooper unbeaten on 42 as former Elsecar pace star Lesroy Weekes collected 5-44.

Wickersley won at 146-5, opener Khurram Javed cracking 60.

No play was possible at Norton Oakes v Treeton.

Division One side Darfield battered the Kexborough attack for 315-8, Simon Potter striking 91, James Ward 78 and Pete Hadfield chipping in with 43.

The home team were not disgraced with their reply of 193-9, Scott Shillito unbeaten on 45 and Rob Mynett on 42.

The only other side in the section to top 200 were Conisbrough, who made 237-9 before Shiregreen fell for 166.

Burkill leads way as promoted pair clash

Half-centuries from John Inglis and Yasar Ali helped Beckwithshaw dominate a drawn match with Ben Rhydding and stretch their lead at the top of Division One to five points.

With Ross Sedgley hitting 44 not out, Beckwithshaw posted 225-8, a total the visitors never looked likely to pass but they managed to hold out for a point.

Pool remain second despite only picking up two points at Harden in a game between the two promoted sides.

Richard Wear (89no) and Ben Burkill (63) put on 129 for the third wicket as Harden reached 198-4. Burkill then picked up 5-48, including the wicket of 18-year-old Josh Inglis, whose 58 took his total to 345 in the first four matches of the campaign.

Nick Brook (3-19) and Neil Davies (4-34) combined to dismiss Otley for 154 in reply to Burley’s 189-7 in which Charlie Davy (48) and Ed Brown (42) top scored.

Stephen Pearson (3-30) and Ross Suri (4-32) dismissed Follifoot for 109 before Andrew Luxton (41no) saw Steeton to a three-wicket win.

Half-centuries from Matt Fielding and Ollie Hardaker and a 4-30 spell from Ryan Sharrocks were the highlights as champions Collingham took five points at Guiseley.

Jos Siddall and Matthew Webb took three wickets each as Bilton were dismissed for 169 to give Kirkstall their first win of the season and lift them out of the bottom two.

Adel’s impressive start in Division Two continued, Mark Dixon (5-26) and Stuart Howie (71no) the stars of their comfortable win over Calverley.

Knaresborough stayed close to Adel with an 86-run win at Bolton Villas. Mike Baxendall (6-10) included 10 maidens in his 14.2 over spell, while Joshua Sundberg’s unbeaten 104 was his second big unbeaten score, giving him an early season average of 135.5.

Josh Hobson (4-29) and John Hughes (5-13) bowled out Thackley for 130, setting up a win for Rawdon, Andrew Doidge (48no) seeing them home.

Jack Burke (4-12) helped dismiss Green Lane for 141 allowing North Leeds to cruise to an eight-wicket win.
