Boycott opens again - but this time it’s Yorkshire’s new shop

YORKSHIRE president Sir Geoffrey Boycott - one of the most famous batsmen in English cricket - was on hand to open the club’s new shop at Headingley Carnegie today.

The former Yorkshire and England stalwart took time out from watching the opening day of Yorkshire’s County Championship match with Northamptonshire to cut the ribbon on the brand new shop on St Michael’s Lane.

Yorkshire Post sports reporter Nick Westby and digital reporter Peter McNerney caught up with Boycott, to get his thoughts on Yorkshire’s start to the match, England’s Test standing, Mitchell Starc’s arrival, Jonny Bairstow form and the promise of Joe Root and Gary Ballance.
