Bradford: Champions suffer at the hands of Hartley

Champions Cleckheaton are notoriously slow starters but even they must have been stunned by the emphatic nature of the 164-run defeat they suffered at Bradford & Bingley.

Young paceman Jack Hartley – son of former Yorkshire player Neil – took 7-47 as Cleckheaton were dismissed for just 80 in reply to the home side’s 244-9, of which Ryan Cooper made 84.

The opening day’s matches produced four centuries and two of them came in Pudsey St Lawrence’s 14-run win at East Bierley.
