Bresnan dropped as Yorkshire seek consistency in T20

Martyn Moxon concedes Yorkshire have not been consistent enough in Twenty20 cricket as they seek to get their qualification back on track at Leicestershire on Friday night.

In great form in the four-day game, Yorkshire have struggled to replicate that in the shorter format.

Moxon said: “We are inconsistent, no doubt.

“We have got to try to get a settled team and get some consistency into our play, which we haven’t had yet. We have got to do it pretty quickly because we can’t afford too many more losses.

“I can’t really put my finger on it, other than we have had to chop and change the team for various reasons.

“Twenty20 is big on knowing your role and having that consistency - ‘this is what I do, I bat at three or five’. Similarly with bowling. If you know that you are going to be bowling wherever, you can kind of fit into that.

“We haven’t had that situation. I doubt if we’ve had the same team two games running. It’s not an excuse, it’s fact. It hasn’t helped.”

Yorkshire welcome back Jonathan Bairstow and Adil Rashid to the squad after their heroics for England in the recent One-Day and T20 series against New Zealand.

Young seamer Ben Coad is also drafted into the 13-man squad after some impressive performances in the second XI. If he plays it will be his NatWest T20 Blast debut.

But former Engnaldn player Tim Bresnan has been dropped.

Yorkshire: Jonathan Bairstow (wicketkeeper), Ben Coad, Aaron Finch, Matthew Fisher, Andrew Gale (captain), Ryan Gibson, Andrew Hodd, Jack Leaning, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Patterson, Richard Pyrah, Adil Rashid, Will Rhodes.
