Champions bow to all-rounder Johnson

Dunnington's Dave Johnson had a tremendous game to lead his new club to victory over the champions at Common Road.

Johnson claimed 4-45 as Woodhouse set a target of 220-8 with Nick Hadfield making 48, Mike Burdett (62), Chris Bilton (45) and Steve Burdett (25). Johnson then showed his class by hitting an unbeaten 133 to dominate Dunnington's successful reply which saw them reach 221-7 despite Tom Quinn's 3-61.

Clifton Alliance maintained their four-point lead over Dunnington by beating fourth-placed Sessay by five wickets with 16 balls to spare. Mark Wilkie made 48, John Flintoff (27) and Chris Till 46 in Sessay's 203-7 as Alex Renton claimed 4-61 in 18 overs of spin. Joel Hughes then led Clifton's reply with 82 and there was good support by Adam Slater (47) and captain John Gilham, who made 38.

Fenner moved out of the bottom two when they won their basement game at Thirsk by eight wickets. There was a good fourth-wicket stand between Thirsk teenagers Ben England, who made a Premier Division personal best of 83 not out, and Ryan McKendry, who weighed in with 64 as the pair added 141.

With captain Mark Cook making 32, Thirsk posted 218-5 but Peter Shally hit 113 and Will Rhodes (75no) out in a second- wicket stand of 182 which took the Hull side to an eight-wicket win in 43 overs.

The pair peppered the boundary with Shally hitting 15 fours and a six and 15-year-old Rhodes hitting nine fours as he continued in the rich vein that saw him hit an unbeaten century for Yorkshire Under-15s against Derbyshire earlier in the week.

First division leaders Hull Zingari were on the receiving end of one of the league's highest individual scores at lowly Folkton & Flixton.

Home batsman Neil Elvidge dominated the first half of the game as he reached 198, a new club record. When the final delivery arrived, he was caught on the boundary.

He had shared a third-wicket stand of 117 with Richard Malthouse (30), helping Flixton to 311-5. Nick Zakrzewski then claimed 5-28 and Ben Elvidge took 3-38. The leaders appeared to be heading for certain defeat but were able to gain a respectable draw at 216-9 thanks to an eighth-wicket stand of 105 between Jim Berridge (77) and Tom Haytack (25).

York captain David Simpson posted his 20th league century when he hit 125 at Driffield.

Andy Kay added an unbeaten 37 to see second-placed York to 253-7 as John Woolley took 4-80. When Driffield replied, Simpson's son, Andrew, claimed 3-37 but the efforts of Kev Woodcock (41) and Andy Chapman (45) saw the hosts gain a draw at 228-8.
