Cook and Borrill put rivals in their place

Old Modernians revived their bid to retain the Division One championship by ending a three-match losing league run.

All-rounders Jarran Cook (63 and 3-20) and Stuart Borrill (41 and 3-19) were Modernians' match-winners in a 47-run victory against title rivals Scarcroft.

Modernians climbed to second, one point behind St Chad's, who beat Great Preston by 44 runs, thanks to Rishi Limbecheya (5-49), Howard Johnson (54), Mark Bailey (48) and Mansoor Hussain (45).

Shadwell's hopes of lifting the championship for the first time since 1947 were rocked by a 51-run defeat at Barwick in Elmet, for whom Nick Swales and Peter Bryant struck half-centuries.

Brothers Graham and Ian Hutchison kept alive Bilton in Ainsty's promotion hopes.

Graham Hutchison (81) and Max Latchmore (39) shared a 93-run stand as Bilton recovered from 63-6 to post 198 against Old Leos who were skittled for 53 by Michael White (5-21) and Ian Hutchison (4-28).

Stuart Whitham hammered an unbeaten 122 off 112 balls as Whixley beat Thorner Mexborough by 78 runs.
