After Ryan Sidebottom bowled a probing over from the River End, Steve Patterson struck with the first ball of the second over when he had Luke Procter lbw for 23.

Patterson rounded off the innings with the fifth ball of the over when he bowled Gary Keedy for a duck.

Patterson was Yorkshire’s best bowler, finishing with 4-51 from 24.5 overs.

Yorkshire were quickly in trouble in their second innings when Adam Lyth was caught and bowled by Glen Chapple for nine to leave them 13-1 in the eighth over.
