Wells reached his half-century from 99 balls with 10 fours, while Goodwin arrived at the landmark from 104 balls with seven fours.

Both batsmen have played well but have had moments of fortune.

Goodwin, on 45, edged Steve Patterson between Gary Ballance at first slip and Adil Rashid at third slip, while Wells was fortunate to escape on 79 when Ryan Sidebottom speared a yorker into his pads.

Rashid has bowled with better control than of late but Yorkshire sorely require a good final session.
