Denton century puts Shepley in last eight

Sykes Cup

Shepley, who knocked out holders Golcar in the first round, marched into the last eight with a 110-run victory at Holmfirth yesterday.

Opener Tom Denton hit a century, Liam Wiles was undefeated on 70 and Sarjinder Pal Singh made 53 as Shepley posted 297-3. Danny Glover's pace troubled Holmfirth's batsmen and he finished with a 6-27 haul. Andy Gleave resisted strongly for a half-century.
