Determined Doidge aiming to beat drop

The fact that Rawdon still have a mathematical chance of avoiding relegation is largely down to their captain, Andrew Doidge.

A consistent performer in a struggling side, he has inspired them to three wins in their last four matches, the latest being at Follifoot.

Doidge took 5-67 as the home side were dismissed for 160 and then teamed up with Simon Kellett (38no) and hit an unbeaten 95 to clinch the win.

But with only three points from their first 10 matches, Rawdon are still 16 points from safety with only three games – against the top three – to come.

Adel remain in the second relegation spot after Ricky Halloran (3-29), Anthony Giles (3-15) and Stuart Dobson (3-32) bowled them out for 149 in reply to Otley’s 193.

Green Lane are only five points better off after they lost their fifth match in a row, going down by four wickets to Kirkstall for whom Kevin Bennett hit an unbeaten 60.

That was Kirkstall’s sixth win in the last eight matches but they remain six points behind leaders Thackley, who beat third placed Guiseley. Chris Wain (7-66) restricted Thackley to 173-8 in which Mahir Ali made 51no, before Nasser Jamal (4-31) and Rishad Jain (3-25) bowled out the home side for 158.

Collingham recovered from 116-8 to 174 with David Sweeting (36) and Brian Leigh (50) leading the way while Stewart Hudson (4-73) and Rob Ellis (5-65) did the damage. Those late stands proved decisive because Toby Jacklin (5-49) and Jone Janson (3-18) dismissed Beckwithshaw for 127.

David Brook (96), Charlie Davy (63) and Mark Harrison (46no) led Burley to 275-6 before Dan Meredith continued his hot streak with 6-20 as Bilton were bowled out for 116.

Shane McNamara (60), David Robinson (58) and Ross Suri (5-45) were the stars as Steeton took four points off Menston to clinch promotion from Division Two. Jason Wright (7-16) and Shaun Delaney (3-29) skittled Harden for 55, a total Ben Rhydding passed in 11 overs to stay second, needing six points to ensure they go up for the second year in a row.
