Dunnington owe it to Jack Bolam - around the Yorkshire leagues

Guy Darwin (88no) and Harry Adair (46) had helped York to 196-3 and they seemed on top as home wickets started to fall.

They could not remove Bolam but York were still favourites going into the last two overs with Dunnington needing 23 to win.

Then Bolam smashed 17 off seven balls before being caught on 94 with three balls left. Even his dismissal could not stop Dunnington. Up stepped captain Dave Brent to hoist the next delivery for the six needed for victory.

In the only other Yorkshire North match to beat the conditions that again plagued cricket, a half-century seventh-wicket stand between Joe Schofield (27no) and Dan Wilkinson (36) helped Acomb to 136-7 but Jack Atkinson (35no) saw Clifton Alliance home by four wickets.

Jack Hughes starred as Townville beat Bradford Premier East Section leaders Hanging Heaton and climbed above them to top of the table.

Heaton were going well while Nick Connolly (33) and Ben Kohler-Cadmore (27) were together but Hughes claimed both their wickets on his way to 4-11 as the visitors were restricted to 127.

Hughes then hit 32 in the reply and with Harry Warwick (63no) leading the way, Townville eased home by seven wickets.

Sam Storr (52no) and Jonathan Donnelly (38) built on Arjun Ramkumar’s 46 with an eight-wicket stand of 49 to help Wrenthorpe to 196-8, Robert Clegg taking 4-33.

Openers Marcus Walmsley (38) and Alex Cree (49) gave Methley a solid start to their reply and Jonathan Read (42) carried it on until he became Oliver Kilburn’s first victim in a 4-27 spell that ensured the home side came up six runs short.

The rest of the Premier programme fell victim to the wintry conditions.

Sufyan Patel (50) and Yasir Ali (45no) enjoyed some success before Batley’s game with Morley was called off; New Farnley’s Lee Goddard included five sixes in his 73 at Cleckheaton, while Pudsey St Lawrence only managed two overs against Bradford & Bingley but stay top of the West Section.

Captain Matthew Fowler (66no) steered Appleby Frodingham past Tickhill’s 118-8 in the only Yorkshire South match completed.

Otley’s 100 per cent start to the Aire-Wharfe season looked under threat when Luke Jarvis (5-29) and Tuseif Arshad (3-35) restricted them to 127 of which Alex Atkinson made 46. But Chris Thompson then produced a 10-over, 6-16 spell that skittled Bilton for 66.

A century stand between Andrew Duckworth (77) and Henry Scanlan (66) meant Rawdon could declare on 270-8 and even though Horsforth put up a game response led by Oliver Hardaker (54), Jake Hodges’s 6-45 haul meant they could only manage 219-9.

Ted Haggas took 6-36 as Follifoot were bowled out for 101 and Robbie Miller included seven sixes in his unbeaten 71 to clinch victory for Addingham.

Ed Hayhurst scored 72 as Collingham overtook Olicanian’s 148 total with two wickets to spare, while Henry Barrow (6-34) and Jason Wright (3-20) dismissed Saltaire for 74 to give Burley a comfortable win.

With Henry Wilson (5-13) and Paul Dover (5-25) tearing them apart, none of the North Leeds batsmen managed double figures and Ilkley took only 9.2 overs to overhaul their 38 total.

For the second week in a row the Huddersfield League felt the wintry blasts. In-form Chris Holliday smashed 11 sixes in a 59-ball century before Hoylandswaine’s match at Almondbury Wesleyans was rained off.

Thongsbridge declared on 220-4 thanks to Ben Raven-Hill (54), Harry Franklin (38) and Alex Kemp (41no) but Broad Oak never had the chance to reply.

Delph & Dobcross were captained for the first time by 17-year-old Xander Selby and he hit 26 and with Mosun Hussain (27) saw his team to 122-9 but Barkisland’s reply was washed out.
