Eight centurions on day of high scoring

Bradford & Bingley and Farsley both chased scores of over 300 to win second round ties on a dramatic day which saw eight batsmen score centuries.

The most nail-biting finish was at Wagon Lane where Bradford & Bingley overhauled a Pudsey Congs score of 308-4 with one ball to spare. Last-wicket pair Rob Walker and Will Briggs saw them home with a partnership of 16.

Babar Butt (112no) and Adam Patel (108) made centuries for Congs while Matthew Duce (96) and David Clow (75) set up Bradford & Bingley's triumph.

There was no doubting the unluckiest player of the day, Hartshead Moor's Craig Field made 172 not out and ended up on the losing side. Farsley, thanks to an unbeaten 106 from Lorenzo Inghram, chased down the Second Division side's daunting score of 314-9.

Former Yorkshire player Ashley Metcalfe made the day's highest. He made 179 as Undercliffe made 298-8 as they beat Lightcliffe by 104 runs. A second former Yorkshire player, Chris Taylor, made 101 not out for Lightcliffe.

Derbyshire wicketkeeper Lee Goddard made an unbeaten 131 as holders East Bierley defeated Pudsey St Lawrence by 75 runs. East Bierley's unlikely bowling hero was another wicketkeeper Greg Wood who took seven for 51.

Tim Jackson of Saltaire was the day's eighth centurion. He made 132 in the 242-run win over Windhill.
