Eight-wicket haul by Greenwood is in vain

CHRIS Greenwood spun his way to a personal season’s best eight wickets, but it wasn’t enough to save Barkisland from defeat by 158 runs at Delph & Dobcross.

Despite his eight victims, Greenwood proved expensive, conceding 85 runs as Delph amassed 268, with Irfan Zahoor and Luke Hargreaves contributing half-centuries. Spinner Arron Lilley took 5-32 in 10.3 overs for Delph and Kevin Hook bowled five overs of accurate medium pace to claim 3-6 in helping to oust Barkisland for 110.

Paul Winrow blasted 15 boundaries in posting 113 for Elland, who defeated visitors Skelmanthorpe by 24 runs. There was a thrilling tie at Golcar where Honley were the visitors and totalled 196-9 with half-centuries from Simon Kelly and Danny Howard.
