Fellows thumps double centry for new record

WRENTHORPE captain Gary Fellows hit 13 sixes and 20 fours in a new league record first-team individual score of 230 off 165 balls against Wakefield St Michael's.

Fellows, who beat the previous highest of 222 not out by Shahid Tanvir for Staincliffe against St Michael's 11 years ago, put on 130 for the opening wicket with Bradley Parker (54) as Premier Division champions Wrenthorpe piled up 367-6.

Tom Glover bagged 4-56 and David Paynter 3-35 as St Michael's were out for 195.

Simon Purdy's 5-43 and Matthew Gibson's 77 were in vain for bottom side Liversedge whose relegation was confirmed with a nine-run defeat against Ossett, for whom Michael Edwards hit 75.

Ossett climbed above Batley who slipped to second-bottom with a 57-run loss at Townville, despite a last-wicket stand of 57 between Bilal Abbas (54no) and Huzaifah Patel (30).

All-rounders Greig Batty (4-40 and 50) and Jonathan Booth

(4-26 and 32) were Townville's match-winners.

Altofts, who are three points ahead of Batley, slipped back into relegation trouble after losing by 104 runs to Wakefield Thornes.

Matthew Varley (6-41) toppled Altofts for 182 after David Meiring (104) and Anwar Hafeez (82) had guided Thornes to 286-6.

Birstall's three-wicket defeat against New Farnley was tough on Indian opener Connor Williams who struck 111 not out.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Hemantha Alles (68no and 4-47) and Chris Leaf (4-47) were outstanding in Methley's 43-run success at Northowram Fields.

Bradley Hauenstein (69no) and Matthew Rushworth (3-49) were Northowram's best performers.

Tommy Roy (111no) and Daniel Calverley (76no) shared an unbroken 148-run stand as Division One champions Hunslet Nelson beat Carlton by three wickets. Gary Close led Carlton's scoring with an unbeaten century.

Scholes's relegation worries increased when they lost by 25 runs to East Ardsley and fellow strugglers Woodkirk and Methley both won.

Chasing Ardsley's 220-6 that featured 88 by Mujahid Hameed, Scholes were bowled out for 195.

Woodkirk climbed above Scholes with an 87-run victory against Buttershaw St Paul's.
