Green leaves it late to steal Honley win

Drakes Huddersfield (Sunday)

Martin Green came to the rescue of leaders Honley with a superb 39 not out in 24 balls to clinch victory over Barkisland with one ball to spare.

Replying to the visitors' 188-6 in which Gary Colman (54) top scored, Honley found themselves at 132-6 with eight overs to go before Green cut loose to build on the earlier 61 from Simon Kelly and pick up five points.

But Honley's advantage was cut to just two points with one game to go after Shepley overcame Slaithwaite in another thrilling finish.

Sarjinder Pal Singh (75) and Sam Denton (64) helped Shepley to 205-7 but a spirited 75 not out from No 5 batsman Ijaz Khan saw the visitors within striking distance going into the last over only for Singh to pick up three wickets and clinch all six points.

Bruce Cruse (92), Arron Lilley (59) and a sparkling 68 in 24 balls from Graeme Simpson took Delph & Dobcross to 304-5 before Lilley (4-15) and Warren Jones (3-24) skittled out Marsden for 78.

Ibrar Latif (74) top-scored in Scholes' 296-8 which was enough to beat Skelmanthorpe despite an unbeaten 116 from Kristian Whittaker.

Kiwi Chris Cooper (32no) and Danny Rhodes (17no) put on 56 for the last wicket to rescue a point for Elland as they chased Golcar's 218-8 in which James Sykes (69) and Steve Whitwam (64) top-scored.

Stephen Rushworth hit 121 in Broad Oak's 263-7 and despite a century from Louis Aspeling, Kirkburton were still 28 short of victory with one wicket left at the close.
