Holt is one to watch as Harrogate fall

ECB YORKSHIRE: TEENAGE medium pace bowler Jack Holt, who is being watched closely by the Yorkshire selectors, guided Scarborough back to winning ways against Harrogate.

Holt took 4-13 in seven overs as Harrogate were ousted for 117 in 39.1 overs. Joe Padmore made an unbeaten 44 in reply.

Doncaster won by four wickets at Weetwood to register only their second victory of the season. The Academy were bowled out for 134 in 37.1 overs, medium pacer James Stuart taking four of the first five wickets and finishing with 4-34. Opener Gareth Cox led the successful reply with 42.

Castleford were beaten by six wickets by Rotherham after falling for 185 despite a fine 60 from opener Andrew Bourke as Ben Sanderson took 5-33 in 11 overs. Chris Young pulled up with a twisted knee after 10.5 overs, having taken 3-35 for Castleford. Jordan Lowe struck 15 fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 95 and Nathan Smith helped him take Town to victory in 44 overs with a partnership of 77.

Hull won by five wickets with all-rounder Matthew Wilkinson leading the way. Half-centuries by Henri Londt and Simon Widdup helped Barnsley to 172-7, Wilkinson removing the top six batsmen and finishing with 6-46 in 19 overs. Wilkinson made 39 and shared an opening stand of 74 with Chris Grey, who hit 38. Dom Rhodes slammed nine fours and two sixes in an unbeaten 53 off 39 balls.

York maintained their unbeaten record but had just 10 runs to spare at Sheffield Collegiate where leg-spinner Tom Pringle took 8-74 off 21.1 overs. Collegiate’s Yorkshire all-rounder Joe Root took four wickets and made 82 in a third-wicket stand of 105 with William Root who made 52.

Cleethorpes beat Driffield as Bill Kirby hit 86, Sri Lankan Omesh Wijesiriwardana hit an unbeaten half-century on his debut and Harry Clewett and Andy Ellis took four wickets each. Sam Drury and Sri Lankan Sanjaya Rodrigo hit half-centuries for the losers.

Appleby Frodingham gained an incomplete win over Sheffield United, plundering 60 off the last six overs, James Pickersgill’s unbeaten 84 containing seven fours and two sixes.

DRAKES HUDDERSFIELD: HONLEY opener Richard Jakeman cracked his first century of the season in a thrilling one-wicket win over fellow title contenders Golcar.

Steve Whitwam, Golcar’s opening batsman, played a captain’s innings of 117, though he was dropped twice and finally lost his wicket in the 50th over, Golcar posting 215-6. Whitwam faced 161 balls and hit eight fours and three sixes.

Jakeman rose to the challenge, his 114 coming off 118 balls and containing 16 fours. Honley seemed to be coasting to victory at 210-7 but they lost two more wickets before captain Robert Moore hit the winning run in the 48th over.

Honley retain a two-point lead over Delph & Dobcross, who won by six wickets at Scholes with half-centuries from Irfan Zahoor, Bilal Khiljee and Arron Lilley. Scholes’ Iqbal Khan was the game’s top batsman with an undefeated 79.

Elland climbed above Golcar into third place with a 59-run win against visitors Shelley. Dan Wood flayed an undefeated 72 containing 10 fours and two sixes, his brother Greg Wood and Paul Winrow also making half-centuries.

Skelmanthorpe hoisted 312-5 against Barkisland, who lost by 157 runs. James Dollive had 10 fours and seven sixes in his 107, Haroon Rashid including 12 fours and four sixes in his 97.

There was a tie at Marsden, who needed six runs to win off the last over against visitors Hoylandswaine and lost their last wicket with two balls left. Hoylandswaine totalled 170 in 49.3 overs, John Sadler leading the way with 68. Martin Berry took five wickets for Marsden, and Honey Garg went on to make a vital half-century for the hosts.

Sarjinder Pal Singh shone in Shepley’s five-wicket win at Broad Oak, making an undefeated 98 containing 16 fours and taking three wickets.

Spinner Josh Ingham took 5-25 and openers Matthew Wood and Andrew Smith had a century partnership in Kirkburton’s seven-wicket home victory over Slaithwaite. Wood made 82, including 15 boundaries.

AIRE-WHARFE: A CENTURY from Tom James helped Adel put the brakes on third-placed Otley’s title chase on a day when none of the top three could win.

James hit 129 in his side’s 254-8 and Otley needed a half-century from Stewart Smith and 48 from Ricky Halloran to rescue two points.

Second-placed Green Lane also only managed two points at Kirkstall where Joe Gibson (93) and Paul Malone (57) helped the home side to 255. With Yasser Ali hitting 89, Lane were on target but a 5-49 spell from Matthew Webb helped slow them and they needed 16 off the final over but only hit 10.

Even though Thackley picked up just four points at struggling Guiseley, they extended their lead to seven. Joe Ollerenshaw and Bradley Goodall each hit 40 in their 211-9 and Robert Butterfield (41no) and Callum Fraser (46) made sure Guiseley avoided defeat.

Nick Brook (7-61) restricted to Bilton to 173-9 but Will Liddle (6-56) had Burley on the ropes at 32-6 and despite the heroics of No 6 Sajad Ali (73), the visitors were dismissed for 148.

Nick Robinson (76no) and Mike Halmshaw (57no) guided Follifoot to a nine-wicket win at bottom club Rawdon.

Ollie Hardaker (105no) and Brian Leigh (99) saw Collingham set a useful 236-3 target but with Phil Critchley (108no) in form, Beckwithshaw got home with nine wickets to spare.

Calverley picked up their first win in Division Two as Julian Thornhill scored 120, including 18 fours. Charuka Rajarathna and Imran Mirza weighed in with half-centuries in the home side’s 305-6 and Rajarathna and Ben Waller picked up three cheap wickets each as Upper Wharfedale were bowled out for 191.

Fawad Maqsood (50) was the only Tong Park Esholt batsman to defy Umer Yaqoob (4-37) and Sam Lawrence (6-65) but Bolton Villas were also struggling against Nadeem Hanif (5-47) and needed 23 off six balls from Yaqoob to pass the 103 target.

Guy Hollis (42no) and Ricky Patel (32no) put on 64 to take North Leeds to 200-8 and four points against Pool.
