Hostile Potter proves too hot for Marsden

PACE ace Ben Potter inspired title-chasing Hoylandswaine to a seventh successive win in league and cup with a 6-23 return off eight hostile overs against Marsden on a day when many matches were rained off.

The visitors had no answer to Potter and were dismissed for 68 in 27.5 overs, just a few days after gaining their first league win of the season against Shelley. Opener Liam Dickinson carried his bat for 49 in the successful reply, Hoylandswaine taking 15 overs to win by eight wickets.

Elland lead Hoylandswaine by just two points after the Hullen Edgers had to be content with five points from an incomplete win at home to Delph & Dobcross, who were 120-9 in reply to 213-3 in a match reduced to 30 overs-a-side.

In the only other Premiership match to go ahead, Shelley won by 37 runs at Hall Bower. Batting first, Shelley posted 181-8 in 30 overs, Lewis Sykes leading the way with a half-century. Greg Wadsworth was not far behind with 45 and Bilal Khiljee hit 41. Khiljee’s five wickets proved expensive, as he conceded 101 runs, but Hall Bower still fell short with two wickets standing. Wayne Swift struck a half-century.

Thongsbridge lead the Championship after defeating hosts Armitage Bridge by 19 runs in a 25 overs game. Opener Ben Raven-Hill carried his bat for 66 as Thongsbridge made 123-4. Zafar Iqbal and Ijaz Shah took three wickets each as the Bridge were restricted to 104-8.
