Hoylandswaine off top spot after Shepley win

TOM DENTON struck a sparkling 119 and enjoyed a partnership of 136 with Duncan Allan as champions Shepley knocked hosts Hoylandswaine off the top.

Shepley won by 36 runs after piling up 304-4. Denton, who smashed 10 fours and six sixes, also had an opening stand of 93 with Dan Wood. Danny Glover played his part with an unbeaten 45 and four wickets.

Hoylandswaine recovered from 40-4 to 258-9, Michael Cranmer and Richard Wilkinson adding 143 for the seventh wicket. Cranmer’s 98 contained 10 fours and five sixes and Wilkinson contributed 65.

Scholes looked in trouble when they were dismissed for 140 by Skelmanthorpe, Paul Cummins taking 6-53. However, Tom Brook (5-40) and his younger brother Louis (3-9) helped to dismiss Skelmanthorpe for 82.

Andrew Smith piled up 17 fours and two sixes in a century for Kirkburton who lost to Honley by two wickets. Simon Kelly hit 82 for Honley and took 3-35. Usran Malvi took 6-82 off his 19 overs.

Holmfirth’s first win came at Slaithwaite whose overseas all-rounder Nathan Freitag made an unbeaten 65 and claimed four wickets. Sami-Ur Rehman struck an undefeated half-century for Holmfirth and Justin Gamble took 4-34.

Opener Fahid Rehman saw Elland to a five-wicket win over Barkisland, with an undefeated 99 containing 17 boundaries, and Hasnat Yousaf grabbed 5-19 in Shelley’s five-wicket success against Meltham.

Niall Lockley’s 79 helped Golcar to a 37-run win over Delph & Dobcross.

In the Conference, Richard Hall grabbed 8-21 as Kirkheaton dismissed Denby Dale for 65 and won by seven wickets.
