Hussey unsurprised as Katich plays despite severe pain

Australia opener Simon Katich has been to hospital for scans to determine the extent of the Achilles injury which has troubled him during the second Ashes Test, with team-mate Mike Hussey admitting "it doesn't look good".

Katich kickstarted Australia's fightback with 43 as the home side, set 375 to make England bat again, finished the fourth day on 238-4 in Adelaide. The left-hander was clearly suffering with the injury which restricted his mobility in the field and, when Australia began to bat, he soldiered on and hobbled between wickets.

Katich produced some stunning shots off one foot to rack up six boundaries before he was eventually dismissed by England spinner Graeme Swann.

Hussey said: "It was an absolutely inspirational performance really. He's willing to show that he'll fight all the way even though he is on one leg, even the way he played (yesterday) I thought he played really well considering he was obviously in a lot of pain.

"I even asked Ricky if he wanted me to open the batting and Kato said 'Nup'. He wouldn't have a bar of that either – (he said) 'it's my job I've got to do it'.

"I've known Kato a long time and I don't expect anything less."

The third Test gets under way in Perth on Thursday week.

Spinner Abdur Razzak claimed 4-14 to help Bangladesh secure a comprehensive 65-run victory in the third ODI against Zimbabwe.

Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, the hosts recovered from a nervy start to reach 246-7 with captain Shakib al Hasan (73) and Mushfiqur Rahim (63) doing the damage at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

No Zimbabwe batsman apart from Prosper Utseya (67) could stage a decent response, as Razzak's superb effort helped dismiss the visitors for 181 to give the Tigers an emphatic win and a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Utseya was the outstanding performer for Zimbabwe, getting his first half-century against Test-playing opposition, as well as hitting Shakib for two sixes and a boundary in the 48th over, but his wicket off Shafiul Islam signalled the end.
