Johnson blasts his way to new record

A new league record was created at Cawood's Maypole Gardens ground when Huntington's Marcus Johnson recorded an unbeaten 234, which included 36 boundaries.

Johnson's double-century surpassed the previous League record of 214 not out scored by James Turner of Thorp Arch & Boston Spa against Dringhouses in 2004.

Cawood won the toss and put the visitors in only to see their 10 players put to the sword as Huntington amassed 401-1. Tom Shaw was 105 not out, with Ralph Bradley (41) being the only wicket to fall. Shaw's day got better as his 5-35 helped shoot out Cawood for 75.

A record of having scored a century in each of the last 18 seasons was created by Duncombe Park's Brian Leckenby when he scored 105 against Bubwith.

Batting first, visitors Bubwith reached 205-5 after Neil Readman had scored 86, having opened the batting and being finally out in the final over. In reply, the home side reached 207-1. Phil Marwood supported Leckenby with 79.

Sessay made it four wins from four when they crushed Premier Division newcomers Fenner by eight wickets thanks to devastating spell of 7-40 from Steve Langstaff.

Steve Sargeant (35) and Craig Denby (33) were the mainstay's in Fenner's 144. Matthew Till's 57 for the home side was supported by Mark Wilkie (30) and Nick Thorne (45no).

Champions Woodhouse Grange lost at home to Acomb by 53 runs after Scott Nicholls had fallen seven short of a century. Simon Brown's 5-52 enabled the visitors to bowl out Woodhouse for 166.

Studley Royal recorded their first win in the Premier Division when they beat Stamford Bridge by 10 wickets at Galphay Road. Stamford were shot out for 134 as Studley captain Steve Walmsley took 5-27. Walmsley (54no) and Rob Nicholson (76no) ended the visitors' hopes of moving into the top three.

Clifton Alliance got their championship aspirations back on track with a six-wicket win at home to Thirsk. After restricting the visitors to 190, former Thirsk player Sean Holmes scored 32 against and Jason Gatus top scored with 69 in Clifton's 191-4.

Neil Elvidge's unbeaten 158 helped Folkton & Flixton beat Ripon in the First Division.

Paul Milnes's unbeaten 91 backed up by Alan Banks (62), and Barry Kettlewell (58no) contributed to Ripon's 301-4 but Elvidge, supported by captain Robert Lacey (38) ensured victory for the visitors.

Ben Kohler-Cadmore was another unbeaten centurion when he scored 115 against his old club Hornsea, who won by six wickets as Paul Clappison made 90.
