Johnston calls for an Ireland response

Central Yorkshire League: All-rounder Nick Connolly was in top form as holders Methley eased through to Jack Hampshire Trophy quarter-finals with a 123-run win over Altofts.

Connolly hammered an unbeaten 135 off 121 balls as Methley posted 232-6 and then claimed 5-10 as Altofts were toppled for 109 in reply.

Premier Division leaders Wrenthorpe coasted to a seven-wicket victory at Northowram Fields who were routed for 79.

Chris Kippax hit 105 off 89 deliveries and Dale Woolsey bagged 4-38 as Carlton trounced Buttershaw St Paul’s by 126 runs.

David Bolt (96) steered LIversedge to an eight-wicket success against Adwalton.
