Kelly’s top all-round display lifts Honley

Kirkburton’s Andrew Smith produced the day’s outstanding display with the bat, making 128, including 18 fours and two sixes, as his side reached 250-8 at Shelley.

Craig Fletcher (4-38) and Ollie Davidson (4-34) then kept the hosts in check, with Shelley eventually dismissed 77 runs short, despite Akhlaq Ahmed (55) making a fine half-century.

Jack Hargreaves (79) and Lee Baxter (56) did enough to ensure Golcar took the spoils from the day’s top encounter, narrowly coming out on top against Elland.

Chasing 209-9, the visitors rallied through decent displays from Lorenzo Ingram, Dominic Finn, Niall Lockley and Simon Wheelwright, but Steve Whitwam’s clever spin bowling saw him finish with 5-59 and kept Elland in check at 196-8.

Hoylandswaine kept their foot on the gas at the top of the table with a seven-wicket triumph over Slaithwaite.

Bjorn Taylor contributed a fine 70, supported by David Hutchinson’s 31, as Slaithwaite managed 160, but the hosts were just too strong.

Michael Cranmer went well with 40 and Alex Morris was in determined mood and did enough to carry his side home at 161-3 with an unbeaten 89.

Yasir Shah (63) gave Hall Bower every chance at Chapelgate, but Scholes’ Iqbal Khan (4-15) helped keep the visitors’ total relatively low at 143.

Wasim Jaffer (35) and Tom Brook (36), who had claimed 3-47, then took Scholes to victory at 148-6.

A tremendous all-round display from Simon Kelly, who took 4-54 before racking up an unbeaten 99, gave Honley an eight-wicket triumph over Shepley, who had reached 176-7.

Chris Hansberry (54 and 5-50) shone for Skelmanthorpe but his side fell for 115 against Delph and Dobcross, whose 213 owed much to surprise contributions from Grant Jones (48) and Adnan Ghaus (35) lower down the order.

Tom Barber (4-7) did well for Clayton West, but Chris Coleman (48) and Alistair Farrell (29) did enough to ensure Marsden won by 51 runs.

South African Castle again takes command

The all-rounder of the day in the Premier Division was Whitley Hall’s South African Jaco Castle.

He continued another fine season with an eye-catching display in the victory over Wath at Baxter Field.

Castle claimed 6-72 in Wath’s tally of 197-7, Mike De Vrye top-scoring with 48, and then carried his bat for 54 in the reply of 200-6, opener Alex Fletcher being the next best with 46.

Treeton pushed their chase for the championship with an eight-wicket triumph at Houghton Main, for whom Tanzeel Ali made 54 in their 173-8. Opener Gareth Davis cracked an unbeaten 76 and Luke Bullingham (51no) helped him take Treeton from 77-2 to 179 without further loss.

Wickersley were another side with an eight-wicket winning margin, visitors Aston Hall closing on 152-9, Carl Tiler making 48, Haider Jahangir and Krurram Javed each claimed three victims before the hosts moved to 153-2 with Shahjaan Younis including 10 boundaries in his knock of 66 and Jahangir chipping in with 33.

Elsecar were too strong for hosts Barnsley, making the short trip worthwhile when answering 179-9 with 183-5. Jordan Luke Bethel struck an unbeaten 80 for Barnsley, then solid batting from Luke Townsend (64), Danial Rafiq (39), Ian Swallow (36no) and Ishan Jayarathna (34) gave Elsecar victory.

Darfield picked up points at Coal Aston, coming in at 185, with the reliable Simon Potter once agan top-scoring with 85 as Nick Horsfield (4-42) and Josh Cross (3-61) struck. Coal Aston suffered a terrible start and were 9-3 before they were all out for 148 thanks to Liam Johnson’s gallant 64, Darfield’s chief attacker was Tahir Maqsood with 4-41.

Hallam did well to hold Whiston to 151-9, the wickets shared by James Chetwood and Humphrey Emery, but they collapsed to 98 all out as Steve Taylor (5-36) and Jafar Nazir (4-40) struck.

The day’s century-makers were Tickhill’s Stuart Coleman, who hit 111 in the Division Two win at Bradfield, and Coal Aston B’s Andy Lockwood, who made an unbeaten 101 in the Division Three victory at Conisbrough B.

Quick strike helps keep title in sight

Ben Quick kept Beckwithshaw on track for their second championship in three years with a 5-31 spell that set up a four-wicket win over Bilton.

With Chris Dawson (58), Chris Peareth (27) and Andrew Walker (68) going well, Bilton were 157-3 when Quick had Dawson caught by John Inglis.

He then had the rest of the batting on the back foot, restricting the visitors to 199-9, and Inglis (42) and Yasar Ali (64no) made sure of all six points.

Collingham remain five points back after beating Follifoot despite being bowled out for 197 with Matt Winter (5-41) and David Wright (4-48) doing the damage. Toby Jacklin took 4-47 as well as a run out as the visitors made 142.

Burley remain in the hunt after Neil Davis (4-31) and Ed Brown (4-3) dismissed Ben Rhydding for 122 to set up a five-wicket win.

Nasser Jamal took 4-22 as Steeton were restricted to 163 but Stephen Pearson (4-33) and Jonathan Best (3-29) skittled Thackley for 83.

Josh Nelson (74) top scored in Guiseley’s 180-9 but it was not enough to stop Otley, Jonathan Hughes (96no) guiding them to a nine-wicket win.

Andy Siddall hit 68 as Kirkstall chased Adel’s 183-8 but John Shires (4-43) helped restrict the visitors to 163-9, giving relegated Adel four points, and leaving the visitors still hovering above the relegation zone.

Calum Braddock (7-44) and Richard Carlton (113) helped Pool beat Olicanian by eight wickets to put themselves back in the Division Two promotion spots.

They went ahead of Rawdon, who could only pick up two points at North Leeds, for whom Tom Boxell (104no) hit his second unbeaten century of the season.

Harden remain top after chasing down Green Lane’s 117 total in which Davin Charleston hit an unbeaten half-century.

Andrew Clarke (106no) helped Bolton Villas to 195-6 before Sam Lawrence (4-55) and Michael Oldfield (4-25) dismissed Calverley for 152.

Alex Bailey (119no) and Rory Kroon (75) led Ilkley to 264-4 before Upper Wharfedale fell for 127, Jeremy Batty taking 4-18.
