Saturday review: Harrogate are stumped by Mike Burdett

Doncaster Town have made an impressive start to life back in Yorkshire South Premier, opener James Stuart leading the way in their latest victory, scoring 98 as they set Whitley Hall a target of 264-7.

The visitors never looked likely to reach that and were dismissed for 113 with Duncan Heath (5-23) and Luke Townsend (3-14) taking the lion’s share of wickets.

A century stand between Beck Fosdick (46) and Haider Jahangir (45) helped Barnsley to 186 and Whiston looked on track for another victory until James Martin (31) was run-out at 176-7 after which they managed only four more runs.

Christopher Cobb (68), Shahjahan Younis (71) and Sam Drury with a sparkling 52 not out were the main contributors to Treeton’s 245-8 and, despite the efforts of Matt Fowler (42) and Alex Grimes (54), Appleby Frodingham came up seven runs short

Openers Dave Rodgers (76) and Mark Cummins (56) put Wickersley on the path to a six-wicket win at Cleethorpes.

David Wainwright (7-34) and an unbeaten partnership between Connor Fisher (59no) and Connor Hyde (67no) were the highlights of Castleford’s win over Sessay, for whom Mark Wilkie and Navin Kavikara hit half-centuries.

Wicketkeeper Mike Burdett picked up five stumpings as Harrogate were dismissed for 161, setting up a seven-wicket win for Woodhouse Grange.

Kavindu Kulasekara (71) helped Driffield to 232-6 but David Taylor (56), Scott Hopkinson (113no) and Liam Hope-Shackley (52no) eased Clifton Alliance home by nine wickets.

Tom Loten (72) top scored in Yorkshire Academy’s 205-8 in a 98-run win at Acomb.

Joe Greaves (57) and James Logan (4-44) were the main contributors as Farsley inflicted a first defeat on Bradford Premier defending champions Hanging Heaton, whose 164-9 total was reached thanks to an unbeaten 42 from No 9 Josh Holling.

There was a run feast at Cleckheaton where Tayyas Tahir cracked 14 fours and eight sixes in making 126 of the home side’s 250-9. Not to be outdone, Kyme Tahirkeli smashed an unbeaten 142 off 134 balls to steer Bradford & Bingley home by five wickets.

Simon Lambert took a match-winning 5-23 to stop Townville, who at 126-1 looked set to overtake New Farnley’s 214-7.

Four wickets each from Steve Watts and Tom Hudson saw East Bierley fall for 116 after James Smith (69) top scored in Pudsey St Lawrence’s 233-8.

Liam Collins (69no) helped Woodlands to 219 and even though Adam Patel responded with 65 not out, Methley were dismissed for 181, Muhammad Bilal taking 4-56.

Aire Wharfe defending champions Beckwithshaw continue to struggle, going down to their third defeat, James Dobson (40no) and David Foster (51no) clinching a seven-wicket win for Adel.

Otley are leaders after Ben Morley (109) and Stephen Brown (61) put them on the way to a crushing 217-run win at Bilton.

Michael Richmond hit 102 not out as New Rover passed Skipton’s 236-7 with nine wickets to spare. It was his 19th Aire-Wharfe century and set a new league record.
