The hosts eventually fell well short but they still had three wickets remaining at the close of play, thanks largely to John Randerson's dogged efforts and Scott Hopkinson's decent show.

James Stuart's rapid innings set the tone for Doncaster at North Marine Road. Stuart wasted little time in reaching 99 runs.

Joe Padmore's 91 was struck at a more sedate pace for Scarborough, but Padmore's support from Ashley Lyth and Andrew Simpson proved key as the hosts claimed the points.

Irfan Amjad produced his best performance of the season in racking up 94 for Yorkshire Academy.

Amjad had not registered a half-century all year but his fine form helped Academy reach 242 against Sheffield United, a figure that proved well beyond the reach of struggling the visitors.

Another fine innings from Sheffield Collegiate batsman Nick Gaywood, who is enjoying a tremendous season, was not enough to prevent his side slipping to a three-wicket defeat at Barnsley.

The hosts claimed their fifth complete win of the campaign after a fine combination between Simon Widdup and Glenn Yates gave Barnsley enough momentum to chase down their target in 50.2 overs.

Eddie Carlton and Peter Fulton helped Cleethorpes overcome Hull at Chanterlands Avenue.

Carlton's unbeaten knock of 48 proved important and Andy Ellis's five-wicket haul was equally impressive before the visitors cruised to an eight-wicket triumph.

Oliver Whittaker's best knock since April helped Rotherham claimed the points in just 44 overs against basement dwellers Appleby Frodingham.

Whittaker made 67 not out and Ben Sanderson struck an unbeaten 38 as they produced a partnership worth 113 to see off Frodingham's challenge.

Joe Fraser and Sam Drury both hit season-best knocks as Driffield overcame Harrogate, despite Nick Lindley and Ryan Bradshaw offering spirited responses.
