McGrath expected to start new season for Yorkshire

YORKSHIRE right-hander Anthony McGrath is expected to be fit for the start of the LV= County Championship season after undergoing knee surgery last week.

The 35-year-old former skipper had arthroscopic surgery to rectify a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee.

“The procedure was a complete success and he has already begun his rehabilitation programme,” Yorkshire said in a statement.

“The club is hopeful that he will make a full recovery in time for the start of the 2011 season.”

Yorkshire’s opening game of the new season is against Worcestershire at New Road, starting on April 8.
