Ninth-wicket stand in vain as Ossett prevail

PREMIER Division champions Wrenthorpe continued their winning start to the season thanks to an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 103 between Greig Batty and Joe Ellis.

Chasing Carlton’s 150, Wrenthorpe looked to be heading for their first defeat when Chris Kippax (2-26) and Jonathan Rudge (2-32) reduced them to 50-6 but Batty (59no) and Ellis (41no) rescued them.

South African Kyllin Vardhan was again in excellent form for Townville, the only other unbeaten Premier Division team.
