Points shared as Wrenthorpe eye up history - SOLLY CENTRAL YORKSHIRE

POINTS were shared in all 12 matches in the top two divisions when the Saturday programme was completely decimated by rain.

Wrenthorpe retained a three-point lead when their eagerly-anticipated game against closest rivals Methley was washed out without a single ball being bowled.

There was no play elsewhere in the top-flight.

It was the same story in Division One where unbeaten leaders Hunslet Nelson retained a five-point advantage over closest rivals Carlton.

Wrenthorpe, who are unbeaten this season, are aiming to become the first club since Dewsbury and Savile in 1890 to lift the Heavy Woollen Cup for a fourth-successive year.

They continue their defence of the trophy when they visit fellow Central Yorkshire League outfit Buttershaw St Paul's in the quarter-finals next Sunday with a 1pm start.

The other ties in the competition are: Hanging Heaton v Barnsley, Shepley v Birstall and Kirkburton v Skelmanthorpe.
