Pudsey old boy deals blow to title dreams

Former Yorkshire left-armer Paul Hutchison learned his cricket at Tofts Road, but on Saturday the East Bierley captain handed out a lesson of his own by taking 5-39 as his side defeated St Lawrence by 10 wickets.

St Lawrence were dismissed for 119 and then saw East Bierley's openers Gharib Razak (53no) and Gavin Hamilton (50no) share an unbroken stand of 122. The sorry Saints failed to pick up a single point and tumbled from first to third place.

Bradford & Bingley took over at the top after inflicting a fourth straight defeat on Undercliffe who started the month as leaders.

Bradford & Bingley won by four-wickets with Simon Davies (62) and captain Phil Slater (43) helping them to overcome Undercliffe's total of 187-6 which owed much to Luke Holroyd's 72 which contained six sixes.

Opener Sam Frankland hit an unbeaten 104 as Woodlands beat Baildon by 36 runs to move up to second place. Frankland hit three sixes and 11 fours as his side make 212-5 before restricting Baildon to 176-7. Simon Webb made an unbeaten 62, but Chris Brice (4-37) and Richard Spittlehouse (3-49) secured victory for Woodlands.

Cleckheaton's Walmsley twins shone in the 34-run win at Saltaire. Marcus top-scored with 62 in Cleckheaton's total of

176-9, then off-spinner Edward took 4-27 as Saltaire were dismissed for 142. The highlight for the losers was Ijaz Khan's 6-42.

His figures were bettered by Robert Thornton who took 6-41 to beat Yeadon by nine wickets.

Yorkshire's James Lee (84no) and Bradley Kruger (83no) shared an unbroken second-wicket partnership of 172 as Yeadon's 182-9 was passed.

Gareth Phillips made 64 as Pudsey Congs overhauled a Gomersal total of 186-7 to secure a five-wicket win.

Lightcliffe's former Yorkshire batsman Chris Taylor hit his fourth league century of the season to take his tally of runs to 902 as he helped his side defeat Idle by 112 runs. The win keeps Lightcliffe in second place in Division Two.

Hanging Heaton are 37 points ahead of them after dismissing Manningham Mills for 85 on their way to a nine-wicket win.
