Rawdon finally have triumph to celebrate

Aire/Wharfe

After starting their 175th anniversary year with five straight defeats, last year's runners-up Rawdon clinched their first win of the season and dragged themselves off the foot of the table.

Jamie Pickering (74) and Duncan Stow (77no) helped them to 250-5, a total that was under threat while Patrick Coughlin (66) and Dave Standring (55) were at the wicket, but tight bowling from Andrew Doidge (4-47) and John Hughes (3-21) dismissed Adel for 170.

That drops Adel to 11th just above North Leeds who lost at Guiseley despite a century from Lee Gordon and 62 from Barry Singleton. The 265-7 target proved no problem for the home side, mainly thanks to Adam Waite who hit his third successive century.

The top three stay the same even though third-placed Green Lane were the only side to win, Davin Charleston (36no) guiding them past Pool's 88 with six wickets to spare.

Mark Harrison (90no) was the main contributor as leaders Burley took four points at Collingham while a century from John Inglis helped second-placed Beckwithshaw to 232-7, with Jamal Nasser taking 5-74, but Thackley held on for a point with two wickets to spare.

Kirkstall jump into fourth, swapping places with their opponents Otley who were bowled out for 158 with spinner Jake Capper taking 5-34. The home side polished off the runs in 25 overs, Jos Siddall hitting six sixes in his 86 not out and Joe Gibson thrashing 24 off one over in his unbeaten 41.

Bilton took over top spot in Division Two after winning at Illingworth. Veryan Brooksby (115) starred in the home side's 251-9 with Andy Walker picking up five wickets. But Bilton got home in 47.3 overs with Darren Blenkiron (73) and Jarrod Leggett (73) leading the charge.

That took them above Harden who went down to their first defeat, Andrew Foulds (89) the man of the match for Upper Wharfedale.

Third placed Olicanian also lost, Chris Luxton (53) and Andrew Luxton (54) the top scorers for Steeton.
