Record breakers: Bairstow and Bresnan move into top five Yorkshire partnerships of all time

YORKSHIRE’S Jonny Bairstow and Tim Bresnan broke a number of records with their 366-run stand in their side’s County Championship clash against Durham at Chester-le-Street today.

As well as being the fifth-highest for the White Rose, it is also the third-highest for the 7th wicket in first-class history.

It is also the highest stand in first-class cricket at Chester-le-Street, beating the 339 scored by Essex’s Mickleburgh & Foster in 2010.

Added to that, it is also the highest seventh-wicket stand in England, beating the 344 scored by Ranjitsinhji & Newham for Sussex against Essex at Leyton 1902.

Jonny Bairstow’s 219 not out became his career-best score, passing his 205 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in 2011.

Tim Bresnan’s 169 not out easily beats his previous career-best innings of 126 not out for England Lions against the Indians in 2007.

Yorkshire eventually declared at Chester-le-Street, with Bairstow and Bresnan taking their side to a commanding 557-6.
