Records tumble at Shepley's ground

Shepley established a club and ground record by piling up 365 runs for five wickets in a 146-run victory over Barkisland at Marsh Lane yesterday (Sun).

Liam Wiles, 18, led the spree with 138, including 12 fours and five sixes, and former Lancashire batsman Tim Rees had eight fours and seven sixes in his innings of 119, the pair putting on 254 for the third wicket.

Matthew Wood had mixed fortunes on his return to his old club Honley. Kirkburton's former Yorkshire batsman continued his fine run of scores with 74 in a fourth-wicket stand of 95 with Geoff Smith (57) but Honley won the top-of-the-table contest by 30 runs.

Hoylandswaine defeated Broad Oak by nine wickets, Alex Morris and Anthony Marr making undefeated half-centuries. Faisal Butt and Arron Lilley spun Delph & Dobcross to a three-wicket win over visitors Golcar despite a valiant 72 from opener James Sykes.
