Sargeant in control in thrilling victory

Clifton Alliance continue to lead the Premier Division after a convincing win over bottom club Thirsk .

Batting first, the visitors made 191 thanks mainly to John Gilham (60) and Alistair Wray (31). Tom Stead took 4-37, before seeing his team skittled for 66 as Richard Carroll took 5-20.

Woodhouse Grange kept up the pressure as they beat hosts Acomb by eight wickets. John Burton's 62 led Acomb to 201-8 as Steve Burdett took 4-56. Jonathan Bean top scored with 78 for Grange and was ably supported by Nick Hadfield (57) and Andrew Bilton (42 no).

Steve Sargeant starred as Fenner beat Sessay with two balls to spare.

Sessay had Jacob Spencer (42 no) and John Flintoff (35) to thank for their 134-8 after Sargeant had taken 3-17 and Dom Rhodes 3-37. Fenner were struggling at 6-4 before Phil Daniels (48), Sargeant (31) and Steve Hewitt (21 no) saw them home by two wickets.

Former champions Easingwold had Paul Redshaw to thank as his 3-45 helped bowl out visitors Goole for 153. Easingwold won by six wickets with contributions from Steve Piercy (32), Jonathan Marwood (30), Martin Piercy (32), and Andrew Dawson (27 no).

Stamford Bridge captain Matt Beckett was the hero when he followed up his unbeaten 63 to take 7-51 as the hosts had the better of a draw. Stamford scored 200-9 with Beckett being supported by Dave Chaplin (38) as Charlie Scatchard took 7-73. Beckett's bowling effort helped restrict visitors Studley Royal to 199-9 as Rob Nicholson weighed in with 77.

Beverley were unable to stop second-placed Dunnington as former West Indies all-rounder Collis King hit 66 before Dave Johnson weighed in with an unbeaten 90 in their six-wicket win. Beverley were bowled out for 216 despite 50 from John Fisher. Dave Johnson took 4-49 before his team reached 218-4.

Neil Elvidge hit a double century for Folkton & Flixton as they beat bottom club Ripon in the First Division.

Folkton & Flixton amassed 318-4 declared off 47 overs. Elvidge (205) was well supported by Richard Malthouse (54 no) as they put on 213 for the third wicket. Ripon made 232 with Matthew Morton (72) top scoring.

Second-placed Pickering placed pressure on leaders York as they had a three-wicket win over hosts Clifton Alliance, who were shot out for 114 as veteran Dave Greenlay bagged 5-12. Danny White's spell of 18.4 overs saw him take 5-44, but it was another veteran, Colin Frank, who weighed in with 31 to see the visitors through to 117-7.

Leaders York beat visitors Sheriff Hutton Bridge by five wickets after Robert Flack had taken 4-27 to bowl out Bridge for 187.
