Scarcroft revived by captain Aston

Captain Damian Aston was outstanding as Scarcroft bounced back from two defeats to revive their Division One title bid by crushing strugglers Walton.

Aston (5-43) and Chris Oldfield (4-18) routed Walton for 83 after Aston's unbeaten 73 and a 98-run stand between Carl Shaw (51) and Michael Potter (44) had steered Scarcroft to 222-5.

Scarcroft are nine points behind leaders Old Modernians, whose 38-run win at Great Preston featured a century partnership between Jarron Cook (57) and Mark Ripley (49).

(4-15) led second-placed St Chad's to a 74-run victory at Shadwell.

Kirk Deighton and Barwick maintained their challenges.

Deighton's Nick Ryder (7-19) produced the day's outstanding bowling performance to skittle bottom team East Keswick for 115, while David Ellis (50no) and James Todd (4-9) gave Barwick the edge at Leeds Police.

Majid Rafique hit 81 and Australian Warren Else snapped up 3-36 in Wetherby's 62-run win over Spofforth.

Division Two pacesetters Church Fenton beat Crossgates by 48 runs to retain an eight-point lead over Bramhope, whose eight-wicket victory at Kippax was set up by William Swift (6-35).

Alex Jeffery (83) and Dave White (72) put on 163 and Tim Lambert bagged 6-13 as Bilton trounced Whixley by 166 runs.

Thorner Mexborough and Saxton tied on 214. The scores finished level when Thorner's Martin Sweeney was bowled by Rory Coe off the final ball.

Steve Hutton (53), James Dean (51 and 4-58) and Coe (47) shone for Saxton.

Mike Brennan (97no), John Nellis (4-37) and Lee Rose (4-61) were Thorner's best performers.
