Spinners strike to destroy Driffield

ECB YORKSHIRE: THE season’s opening day must have seemed an eternity away to Driffield Town as memories of their tied game with champions York gave way to a 10-wicket trouncing at Clifton Park on Saturday.

Since that surprise tie at Kings Mill Road on August 23, Driffield have won just three league matches, losing 10, while York’s only league defeat came at home to Yorkshire Academy on June 11.

Driffield elected to bat and were dismissed for 96 in 41.2 overs. Spinners Dan Woods and Tom Pringle were the destroyers-in-chief, Woods taking 5-32 in 20.2 overs, including 11 maidens, while Pringle claimed 3-48 in 14 overs.
