Test legends combine to help Aussie flood victims

Darren Gough and Shane Warne are joining forces to create a 'legends' Twenty20 match to raise money for the victims of the Australian flood disaster.

The time and place are still to be confirmed but early indications are the match will be contested by a team led by the former Australian spinner against an XI headed by former England and Yorkshire captain Michael Vaughan, who is Down Under commentating on the Ashes tour.

Warne and former Yorkshire and England bowler Gough have used the social networking site Twitter to gather support for the idea.

Gough, whose sister-in-law lives in Queensland, tweeted "Let's do this cricket game, I can't watch these floods any longer. Disaster. Australia needs our support. Let's get it on."

Warne has contacted Australian broadcaster Channel 9 and Cricket Australia in a bid to get the match televised.

He tweeted: "Thanks everyone for your support re idea for 20/20 in aid of Qld (Queensland) flood relief fund. Glad you all liked the idea of a 20/20 match. Vaughan 11 v Warne 11 with ex-cricketers and some celebs."

Kevin Pietersen hopes to raise more than 10,000 for the Queensland flood victims after deciding to auction some of the equipment he used in the Ashes.

Pietersen has donated a signed bat as well as the shirt he wore on the final day in Sydney last week, when England claimed their historic 3-1 series victory.

He has included two tickets to England's one-day international in Perth on February 6, and pledged to pay for flights and five-star accommodation for the winning bidder.
