Thackley scalp ends nightmare for Otley

Michael Missett and Nick Benton made sure Otley bounced back from last week’s shock defeat by bottom-club Rawdon to beat leaders Thackley by five wickets.

Benton took 4-54 as Thackley were restricted to 176-9 in which Adam Morgan hit 64. Nasser Jamal picked up the first five Otley wickets but then Benton (64no) and Missett (57no) came together to clinch the victory.

That allowed Bilton to take over top spot after Darren Simpson (48) and Andy Walker (41no) saw them past Rawdon’s 138 total.

Yasser Ali scored 95 in Green Lane’s 215-8 but an undefeated 65 from Ben Quick secured the win for Beckwithshaw, who stay in the title race along with Burley who took five points at Adel with Ryan Cooper scoring 55 and Nick Brook taking 4-20.

Nick Robinson (128) and James Ford (81) put on 165 for Follifoot’s first wicket and with Jim Pickles hitting 53, the visitors looked in charge on 298-4. But Joe Gibson (53) and Lee Gordon (42) gave Kirkstall a solid start and captain Jos Siddall (64no) and Kevin Barnett, who hit 10 fours and nine sixes in an undefeated 127 clinched the win with a stand of 191.

Half-centuries from Brian Leigh and Charlie Fairbank helped Collingham to 244 and despite the efforts of Charlie Best (69) and Dave Pennett (49) Guiseley could only manage to pick up two points and slipped below their opponents into the bottom two.

John Akrigg hit 141 in 134 balls and with 50no from Mark Taylor, Division Two leaders Steeton set a formidable 295-5 but half centuries from Chris West, Gareth Lee and Chris Coates helped Calverley hold on for a point.

Ed Brown hit 89 in Olicanian’s 211 but Ben Rhydding kept up their title challenge by getting home with two wickets to spare, Robbie Oldham (64) top scoring.

Simon Bridson (7-50) and Calum How (85no) starred as Knaresborough beat Upper Wharfedale.

Matt Naylor (5-32) and Sam Wilkinson (4-54) dismissed Bolton Villas for 102 but Umer Yaqoob (5-39) and Sam Lawrence (4-37) turned the tables and skittled out Pool for 85.

Menston beat North Leeds to clinch their third successive win.
