Thompson keeps up the Bradford chase

Chris Thompson produced a stunning innings of 120 not out as Bradford & Bingley kept up their challenge for a league and Priestley Cup double with an 85-run win at Woodlands.

Thompson arrived at the crease with his side at 36-4, but transformed their fortunes by hitting six sixes and 14 four as they made 215-8.

Veteran seamer Richard McCarthy (5-32) took the first five wickets as Woodlands were bowled out for 130. The result moved Bradford & Bingley up to third – seven points adrift of Pudsey St Lawrence who returned to the top with a nine-wicket win over Yeadon.

Opener Alex Stead hit an unbeaten 103 as they overhauled a Yeadon total of 206-8. Stead shared an unbroken second-wicket stand of 152 with captain James Smith (78no).

Defiant batting from Saltaire thwarted Pudsey Congs' bid to go top for the first time this season. Wasim Munawar (57no), Tim Jackson (45) and Waleed Akhtar (35) guided Saltaire to 188-5 in reply to the Congs' total of 239-7. Although winning by 51 runs, Congs had to settle for just two bowling points and that left them one behind St Lawrence. Mark Gill made 60 for Congs while Imran Ahmed (43no) and Matthew Doidge (34no) added valuable runs.

Cleckheaton paceman Ian Wardlaw (7-56) impressed as his side bowled out Undercliffe for 175, despite 54 from opener Tabbi Bhatti. Mally Nicholson made 49 and Ammer Mahmood (40) as Cleckheaton secured a five-wicket win.

Farsley are still not safe from relegation after a seven-wicket defeat at Baildon. Despite half centuries from Lorenzo Ingram (53) and Steve Simpson (51), they were bowled out for 105 as Mushtaq Ahmed took 5-36. Captain Ian Philliskirk made 69 as he steered Baildon to victory.

Left-arm spinner Ben Platt took 6-22 as Gomersal dismissed Bankfoot for 117 before sealing a six-wicket win with an unbeaten 52 from Andy Gorrod.

Manningham Mills secured promotion back to Division One with a three-wicket win over Keighley. Gulsheraz Ahmed hit 115 as they chased a Keighley score of 199 which included a last-wicket stand of 81 between Ross Towler (44no) and Ashley Robinson (20).

They finished three points ahead of Lightcliffe.
